This painting began with a plan—but like the ocean itself, it had other ideas. In her attempt to shape it, Wanaria found herself caught in frustration, until she paused and listened. What emerged was a realization as fluid as the tides: some forces are not meant to be controlled.
They are meant to be felt, honored, and surrendered to.
“Kahu – Protector of the Sea” is the second piece in the Kahu series and a tribute to those who feel deeply connected to the ocean’s wild soul. It speaks to the ones who find solace in the rhythmic crash of waves, who understand the beauty in chaos, the softness in strength, and the wisdom in letting go. The artwork became a mirror of its own message: when we stop resisting, we begin to flow.
This piece is a quiet anthem for guardians of the sea—for those who love fiercely, protect what is fragile, and know that the water holds both memory and mystery. It is a reminder that true stewardship means listening, adapting, and learning to dance with the tide, not against it.
